Episode 43 - Kindness Matters

“When we practice kindness either to other people or towards ourselves we can experience positive mental and physical changes through lowering stress levels and increasing the body’s production of feel-good hormones such as dopamine, oxytocin, and serotonin.”

Be kind even when others aren’t.

“Acts of kindness have the potential to make the world a happier place. An act of kindness can boost feelings of confidence, being in control, happiness and optimism. They may also encourage others to repeat the good deeds they've experienced themselves – contributing to a more positive community.”

Impact of kindness

Volunteering - pick a cause that’s important to you. Your choice may be motivated by a love for something or a hatred or injustice about something. Either way, giving your time is truly an act of kindness

These are just some of my notes on kindness for this episode. I will say, I postponed recording this episode for a few months while my family was going through some really hard stuff. I didn't feel like I wanted to be kind and I didn't feel as though the world was being kind to me. But it didn't stop be from showing kindness to others. Sometimes, kindness is an act of omission. When you want to strike out in anger, but hold back your words and actions in an act of peace and kindness.

Until next time, Queens, I can't wait to cheer you on!

XO,

Shannon
