Expectations are ruining your life. Or rather, unmet expectations are ruining your life.
Here's how to get your balance back so you can set clear expectations and win the day... or at least keep your emotions in check when things don't go according to plan.
Was the expectation communicated clearly?
Did others involved acknowledge that they understood the expectation?
Was the reaction/consequence for the unmet expectation communicated? Was it fair and judicious?
Were there extenuating circumstances that caused the expectation to go unfulfilled?
Relationships in which you may have expectations that need to be communicated clearly:
With caregivers (yours or your children’s)
Within your home
With service providers
With your children
